Our Services

FAA Certification
& Engineering Services

Every service is led by our in-house DER. You get direct access to the engineer whose name is on the approval — not a project manager who coordinates with one.

FAA PMA Certification

End-to-end Parts Manufacturer Approval via Test & Computations and Identicality under AC 21.303. 30+ approvals per year.

Supplemental Type Certificate

STC certification for engine and powerplant modifications and Part 23/25 fuel systems. PSCP through STC issuance.

Defense Propulsion Consulting

Technical review support, dual-use certification, and DER engineering for defense contractors and program offices.

Test Cell Correlation

Approval support for performance testing, instrumentation, and correlation to OEM test standards under Part 33.

Repair Specification

FAA-approved repair specifications for propulsion components — and conversion of proprietary MRO repairs into PMA products.

Not Sure Where to Start?

Many clients come to us knowing what they need to achieve but unsure of the path. A free 30-minute consultation is always the right first step.

DER Authority

In-House DER
Delegations

Our Designated Engineering Representative holds active FAA delegations in Parts 23, 25, and 33 — covering the full range of fixed-wing aircraft and propulsion certification. Every project includes the DER engineering approval that closes the loop with the FAA. No external coordination. No handoff delays.

The Certification Letter of Authorization (CLOA) documents the specific scope of our DER's authority under each Part. These are available for download:

14 CFR Part 23

Normal Category Airplanes

Airworthiness standards for normal category aircraft. Primary application: fuel system modifications, engine installations, and powerplant system integration on piston and turboprop platforms.

14 CFR Part 25

Transport Category Airplanes

Airworthiness standards for transport category aircraft. Primary application: fuel system design and modifications on commercial transport platforms. Highest regulatory standard for fixed-wing aircraft.

14 CFR Part 33

Aircraft Engines

Airworthiness standards for aircraft engines — our primary specialty. Covers turbine engine design, testing, and modification. Applied in conjunction with AC 33-8 and related guidance for PMA, STC, and repair specification programs.

Who We Work With

Built for Manufacturers
Who Move Fast

Prime Propulsion is sized for organizations that need senior DER attention and direct access — without the overhead and handoff queues of a large certification firm.

Aerospace OEMs & Tier 2/3 Suppliers

Small to mid-size manufacturers developing new parts or modifications who need in-house DER capability without the cost of building it internally. Direct access to the DER, not a project manager.

MRO Operators

Maintenance facilities with proven proprietary repair processes looking to convert them into FAA-approved PMA products — or seeking DER approval support for repair specification programs.

Defense Contractors & Program Offices

Primes, Tier 1/2 defense suppliers, and program offices requiring propulsion engineering support on dual-use systems or defense acquisition programs — backed by ACAT 1D government experience.

Aftermarket Parts Manufacturers

Companies entering the aviation aftermarket for the first time, or expanding their PMA portfolio. We handle the entire certification path — from compliance plan through FAA approval.

International Manufacturers

Non-U.S. aerospace manufacturers seeking FAA certification for U.S. market access — whether for commercial PMA parts, STC modifications, or engine components on dual-use platforms.

Engine Overhaul Facilities

Turbine engine overhaul shops requiring test cell correlation documentation, repair specification development, or DER support for component approvals under Part 33.
